White solid. PROTECT FROM LIGHT. PACKAGED UNDER INERT GAS. A cell-permeable antiapoptotic compound that effectively prevents autophagosome formation, cytochrome c release and caspase activation. Also, acts as an ATP-competitive, less potent inhibitor of class III PI 3-K (85 - 90% inhibition at 10 mM in p150 transfected HT-29 cells). Unlike LY294002 (Cat. No. 440202) and Wortmannin (Cat. No. 681675), 3-MA selectively inhibits early endosome transport to TGN (trans-Golgi network) and does not affect the overall membrane trafficking. Purity: ≥98% by TLC. CAS 5142-23-4.
