Catalyzes the formulation of CMP-sialic acid from CTP and sialic acid. Specific activity: ≥15 units/mg protein. One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme that will catalyze the formation of 1.0 µmol CMP-sialic acid from CTP and sialic acid per min at 37°C, pH 9.5. Purity: ≥90% by SDS-PAGE. EC 2.7.7.43. M.W. 45,000 (homodimer).
