IFN-b-1a Interferon a-2 precursor rHuIFN-b-1a Lyophilized. Lyophilized from a 1 mg/ml solution containing 620 mg mannitol, 91 mg human albumin, 9 mg sodium acetate. PROTECT FROM MOISTURE. Recombinant, human interferon-b (IFN-b) expressed in CHO cells as a single glycosylated polypeptide containing 166 amino acids. Purified by chromatographic methods. IFN-b is a type I cytokine produced in response to exposure to viruses or double-stranded RNAs. It is also induced by other cytokines, such as TNF and IL-1. It is involved in the regulation of non-specific humoral immune responses and immune responses to viral infections, and thus exhibits anti-viral, anti-proliferative, and immunomodulating properties. The biological activity of IFN-b, unlike IFN-a, is strictly species-specific and will not be active across species. Biological activity: Reported as IU/mg on a lot-specific basis using a viral resistance assay. Purity: ≥98% by SDS-PAGE. Ref.: Goebel, M.U., et al. 2005. Physiol. Behav. 84, 807.
