Stimulates the production of acute phase proteins by hepatocytes. Induces growth and differentiation of B cells, hepatocytes, keratinocytes, and nerve cells. Does not inhibit any significant activity on human cells. Biological activity: ED50 = 20-60 pg/ml as measured in a cell proliferation assay with a factor-dependent plasmacytoma cell line.
