rhIL-11 Lyophilized. Lyophilized from sterile-filtered PBS, 50 µg BSA/µg IL-11. Recombinant, mouse interleukin-11 expressed in S. frugiperda insect cells. Pleiotropic cytokine that is thought to be involved in hematopoiesis, lymphopoiesis, acute phase responses, and in the development of adipocytes, neurons, and osteoclasts. Acts as a synergistic factor for the proliferation of human myeloid leukemia cells. Has a protective effect against acetaminophen-induced liver damage. Activates MAP kinases, JAK tyrosine kinases, and pp90rsk. Biological activity: ED50 = 60-240 pg/ml as measured in a cell proliferation assay using T11, a subline of the IL-6-dependent mouse plasmacytoma cell line T1165.85.2.1 that has been adapted to grow in IL-11. Purity: ≥97% by SDS-PAGE. Contaminants: Endotoxin: <100 pg/µg IL-11. Ref.: Trepicchio, W.L., et al. 2001. Toxicol. Pathol. 29, 242. Lemoli, R.M., et al. 1995. Br. J. Haematol. 91, 319.
