Lyophilized. Lyophilized from sterile-filtered PBS, 50 µg BSA/µg IL-13. Recombinant, human interleukin-13 expressed in E. coli. Pleiotropic cytokine that shares many of the properties of IL-4. Exhibits IL-4-like activities on monocytes/macrophages and human B cells but has no effect on T cells. A potent regulator of STAT6 and JAK3 in NK and T cells. Regulates inflammatory and immune responses. Inhibits inducible nitric oxide synthase in human mesangial cells. Biological activity: ED₅₀ = 3.0-6.0 ng/ml as measured in a cell proliferation assay using a human factor-dependent cell line, TF-1. Purity: ≥97% by SDS-PAGE.
