A more lipophilic, fluorescent derivative of the GTP-hydrolysis-resistant GTP analog, GppNHp. Useful for investigating the interactions of low molecular weight GTP-binding proteins with their specific effector proteins. Acts as a potent, competitive inhibitor of adenylyl cyclase (AC; Ki = 161 nM and 155 nM in forskolin/Mn2+-stimulated AC in S49 cyc- membranes and insect cell membranes, respectively). Shown to bind to Go-proteins with high affinity, Gsa-Gia-proteins with low affinity, and ineffective at activating Ga. Purity: ≥95% by HPLC.
