Liquid. In PBS, 0.05% NaN3, pH 7.4. DO NOT FREEZE. Recombinant, human myoglobin expressed in E. coli. Skeletal muscle protein that contains heme groups identical to those of hemoglobin. Capable of reversible oxygenation and deoxygenation. Measurement of myoglobin levels is useful in the diagnosis of skeletal and cardiac muscle damage. Supplied as a 1:1 mixture of mature and immature forms of myoglobin. The amino acid sequence of the mature form is identical to that of the native material; the immature form has an N-terminal methionine residue. MS: 17670 (mature) and 17801 (immature). Purity: single band by SDS-PAGE (mature and immature forms are indistinguishable by SDS-PAGE). CAS 11080-17-4. M.W. 17,670 (mature form) and 17,801 (immature form).
