White solid. PROTECT FROM LIGHT. PROTECT FROM MOISTURE. An aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits translation by binding to the small subunit of prokaryotic ribosomes. Recently shown to inhibit angiogenin-induced angiogenesis. Blocks voltage-sensitive Ca2+ channels without affecting Na+ - Ca2+ antiporter in nerve cells. A potent inhibitor of skeletal muscle sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ release. An inhibitor of inositol phospholipid turnover. A non-specific phospholipase C inhibitor. Also inhibits phosphatidylcholine-phospholipase D activity (IC50 = 65 µM). Inhibits angiogenin-induced angiogenesis in the chicken chorioallantoic membrane (20 ng per egg). Activity: ≥600 IU/mg. RTECS QP4375000, CAS 1405-10-3. Merck Index: 14, 6454 Ref.: Hu, G.F. 1998. Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 95, 9791. Wang, J.P., et al. 1996. J. Biol. Chem. 271, 8387. Smith, M.J., et al. 1995. Dev.
