Neuronal Cdk5 Activator
p25nck5a/p35nck5a Liquid. In 25 mM Tris-HCl, 100 µM DTT, 30% glycerol, pH 7.4. AVOID FREEZE/THAW CYCLES. Recombinant, bovine cleaved Cdk5 activator (p35) fused to GST and expressed in E. coli. It is produced as a 35 kDa precursor and further cleaved into the 25 kDa form of the protein. Cleaved Cdk5 activator is an essential regulating subunit of cdk5. Aberrant Cdk5 activity has been implicated in a number of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and Parkinson's disease, where abnormal phosphorylation of tau and/or neurofilaments has been observed. One vial contains sufficient material for approximately 25 reactions. Specific activity: ≥100,000 units/mg protein. One unit is defined as the amount of protein that when reconstituted with Cdk5 (Cat. No. 219459) will transfer 1 pmol of phosphate to Histone H1 peptide (9-18) per min at 30°C, pH 7.2.
